Post London MCM Expo stuff

Hello! A massive thank you to the lovely people who visited our table at MCM Expo last weekend! We had a really great time seeing lots of friends, drawing pictures and eating too much cake! (Sarah is in the photo)

The fox head that was making our comics look cool was created by Grace from The What Not Tree

If you'd like to read about the publications on the table see our pre-mcm post

On Sunday morning we got up early and went on the cable carts before the show opened! Look its the Olympic park! and lots of yellow people jogging round a car park! We got off and had a look - they where people doing Run To The Beat! We could hear their music echoing around near the excel centre before we got on the cable carts.

Thanks everyone for such a fun weekend! Not long till Thought Bubble! :)

Monster pre London MCM Expo 2012 post!!

Inspired Comics will be at London MCM Expo for the first time! We'll be in the comics village and you can find our table on row C. We'll be there Friday though till Sunday! The images above are the covers for all the anthologies we've created as a collective that will be available from the event.

Sarah and Lily's What's The Time Mrs Woolf? has been running for a whole year! The latest issue has a spooky theme and I'm very excited that its ready to take to London at the weekend. (I'm not sure which back issues are in stock, but don't worry because you don't need to read in a particular order)

Sarah will be around all weekend so I hope she is bringing plenty of copies of her mini comics The Bad Fairy Bakery and Patience is a Virtue

Sarah and I have also created our first music zine this autumn! It features articles, illustrations and comics featuring Blur, The Kinks, Everything Everything, Peace, Gorillaz, De La Soul, Little Dragon, Helen Arney, Bellatrix, Gil Scott-Heron, Ghostpoet, DANGER DOOM, The Subways, The Clash, Elastica, Phillipa Hannah, The Unthanks and Young Knives

I'll be taking my new comic Jumping The Shark, a sequel to Best Day Ever. The printed version of the webcomic includes an exclusive bonus comic! I'll also have copies of some of my mini comics.

Shaz will also be around for some of the weekend and I'll be taking copies of her comic Thin Ice which was created for her final major project earlier in the year.

And we'll have the usual badges, stickers, plectrums, bookmarks post cards and art cards!

We've also photocopied a limited amount of free mini comics and zines to bundle together and hand out at the event

I think thats everything - listing it all feels like a test!

Thanks again for reading and maybe I'll see you at the weekend!

AUTUMN 2012 EVENTS

Hello!

The anthology we're working on is going through some changes at the moment. The release has been pushed back to 2013 so I'll let you know more about that over the next couple of months. Sorry about the implication that I would be posting some of our development work in September, but I'm going to be saving that for the months closer to the release.

We're still working hard over the autumn and we have 3 events coming up ...

Birmingham Zine Festival - Independent Publishing Fair - Saturday 13th October 2012

London MCM Expo - Friday 26th - Sunday 28th October 2012

Thought Bubble Festival - Saturday 17th - Sunday 18th November 2012

I'm hoping that next week I can get some photos of some of the new stuff we'll be launching this autumn

Thanks for reading!

Thought Bubble 2012 and Music Anthology

We can now confirm Inspired Comics will have a table at Thought Bubble 2012. We're really excited because we had such a good time there last year. We'll be somewhere in the Saviles Hall again. :)

We're currently working on a comics anthology with a music theme and are hopping to release it in the autumn. I'm going to try to start blogging comics development and hopefully get some some music choices from the group to accompany the work.

I haven't collected anything to post yet, but I went to see Blur with Sarah last week at Wolverhampton Civic Hall. We both drew sketches while we were there and Sarah has touched up some of them after the event. You can see more of Sarah's sketches here. It's interesting seeing how different our location drawings are.

I didn't draw as much as Sarah did, I was too busy singing badly along to my favourite songs ^^; . You can see the sketches I did of the warm up band here.

Blur - End of a Century

Thanks for reading - hopefully I'll have more comic based blog posts over the next couple of months

Manchester MCM Expo 2012

Thank you to anyone who came to the table or bought something on Saturday! I was totally overwhelmed with how busy it was! I hope everyone liked the free mini comics we made to hand out - sorry they had all gone by midday. Sorry if I seemed a bit sleepy too, it was a long day at the end of a busy week.

This photo was in focus the best (sorry its just my phone camera). We'd sold out of some of the zines by this point in the day too. Hopefully we can go to the event next year and I will take more stock.

Thanks again!

FREE MINIATURE ZINE LIBRARY

Hello! We're going to be at Manchester MCM Expo tomorrow and these photos are of the free stuff that will be available from the table (while stocks last). The bundles have rotating covers and all include 3 A7 hand folded mini zines and a fold out poster.

The What's The Time Mrs. Woolf? Free Mini Zine contains tiny articles by Lily and Sarah, illustrations by Clem and a new Stale Symphony comic by Sammy. Patience is a Virtue: The Mystery of the Nightboy is a free 6 page mini mystery comic by Sarah Fogg. The Crossroads is the latest free mini comic by Sammy Borras and folds out into a A4 poster.

We will also have copies of What's The Time Mrs. Woolf? Issue 5: The Hairy Issue which was released this week!

I also printed some full colour versions of the mini comic which fold out into a A3 poster. Visit www.giantrhinos.co.uk for more information on the Giant Rhinos project. (Sorry about the photo quality)

I'm hoping that I will be able to offer inked portraits and personal commissions while at the event (as long as I don't catch the head cold that's going around work). For more information on prices click here.

Thanks! See you there!

Bristol Comic Expo 2012

Hello! Thank you very much to anyone who stopped by to say hello and/or buy a comic at Bristol Expo! Sarah, Shaz and I all had a lot of fun behind the table and catching up with friends.

Before we went to expo I didn't manage to get a photo of Sarah's new original art cards but I want to show you because they're lovely. (on the left)

Thanks again!

Bristol Expo Extras!

Inspired comics have fun compiling anthologies together once or twice a year but at Bristol Expo this weekend we will have some new comics created by a couple of individuals from the collective. I have got some comics previews for you now!

Shazia Jubeen is just finishing the last year of her illustration degree. This short story comic Thin Ice is the result of the hard work put into her final major project. You can find more of Shazia's comics and illustration on her blog.

This weekend Sarah Fogg will be releasing a new mini comic called The Bad Fairy Bakery. Click the images to enlarge to read the blurb and preview page. Sarah will also be bringing a collection of What's The Time Mrs. Woolf? zines and new hand drawn art cards and mini prints.

I've decided to touch up and print Smoothie Wars, a mini comic from my webcomic short story site. It features characters Ted and Tim who have recently appeared again in my Eat Me! anthology submission. I will have copies of  Best Day Ever and some new sticker designs.

We will also have some bookmarks and handmade trinkets created by Catherine Reda

Thanks again for reading the blog and I hope you come along and say hi this weekend
