New stuff that is not comics for Thought Bubble

Sarah Fogg has made some great new postcards which are scheduled to arrive in time to take to Thought Bubble this weekend. Sarah's characters are great, I love how diverse the set of illustrations is. You can see more wonderful sketches and ink drawings of them in Sarah's Sketchvember sets over on tumblr.

I printed some glow in the dark Giant Rhinos plectrums and some brand new vinyl stickers and badges. The characters are Pip and Annie who feature in my most recent selfpublished comic, Zines In Space. All the new merch and comics are avalible to order from my Etsy Shop.

Check out the main blog for more information on what we're taking to Thought Bubble.

Don't forget you can find us in the Allied London Hall on table 93.

Thanks again and see some of you there!

The Wastelands Rahu at Thought Bubble

Inspired have a table at Thought Bubble next weekend. You can find us in the Allied London Hall on table 93. We are taking some of Gemma Sheldrake's new big beautiful full colour Rahu books. Don't worry if you can't get to Leeds! You can read the webcomic or buy online through the Manga Magazine website.

We will also have anthologies, comics and zines by the group. This includes Free Mini Comics to hand out. You can also try out the following secret pasword: 'Do you have a business card?' (While stocks last. Sorry we were low on stock at london MCM Expo, I'm hoping we will have more this time.)

Jack Davies will be around saturday only (but we will keep his comics for sunday) and Sarah Fogg, Shaz Jubeen and myself will be there for the full weekend. I'll let you know if we're bringing anything else new to the event. See you there!

Thanks again!!

Thought Bubble 2012 Photos and Stuff

Hello! Sorry for the delay, I had to wait for the photos and then I was too busy to sit and write this all out. Sarah took some photos of our table using her camera at Thought Bubble this time. But that does mean that I'm in the photos instead of Sarah - Sorry!

Sarah made some new beautiful watercolour postcard designs in time to take to Thought Bubble!

This photo is of Issues 2-6 of What's The Time Mrs Woolf? - you can read more about Sarah and Lily's zine on their WTTMW? blog

This is a photo of the Artists trading cards! they were a lot of fun to make! Top row paintings by Sarah, ink drawings on the left by Sammy and bottom right paintings by Shaz

This is a photo of the music fan zine that Sarah and I made. Then my self published comics  followed by Inspired's latest anthology, Eat Me!

These photos are of Inspired's old anthologies (on the stand). We're actually very low on stock for some of these comics so I've listed them on Etsy encase anyone is interested in grabbing a copy before they become out of print. We wont be printing any more copies in the future.

The photo also includes Thin Ice by Shaz Jubeen, bunny food stickers and bookmarks by Cat Reda and bookmarks by Gem Sheldrake

Sarah also made her own dress! The design is from Josceline Fenton's Hemlock comics. Josceline also won an award over the weekend for emerging talent - congratulations!!

Thanks to everyone who came by the table! and thanks to Sarah, Lily and Shaz for coming to help at the weekend.

Thanks for reading!

Art Cards at Thought Bubble 2012

We've been taking Sarah's hand painted artist trading cards to some events this year (left of the photo). They look like fun to make so a couple more Inspired members have been joining in to make some to take to Thought Bubble this weekend.

This photo is of some of the cards Shaz has been making. :D They're tiny water colour paintings like most of Sarah's trading cards.

And these are some of the designs I'll be taking - the characters are from Inspired's anthology Eat Me! Most the cards I've been making are ink on bristol board.

There might even be an oppertunity at the weekend to commission cards at the event - we'll probably have a sign up

We'll be in New Dock Hall on table 162 (in the middle of the hall - next to Jonathan Cape and opposite Nobrow - I think thats useful directions )

Thanks again for following this blog! I'll be online next week with a Thought Bubble write up thing

AUTUMN 2012 EVENTS

Hello!

The anthology we're working on is going through some changes at the moment. The release has been pushed back to 2013 so I'll let you know more about that over the next couple of months. Sorry about the implication that I would be posting some of our development work in September, but I'm going to be saving that for the months closer to the release.

We're still working hard over the autumn and we have 3 events coming up ...

Birmingham Zine Festival - Independent Publishing Fair - Saturday 13th October 2012

London MCM Expo - Friday 26th - Sunday 28th October 2012

Thought Bubble Festival - Saturday 17th - Sunday 18th November 2012

I'm hoping that next week I can get some photos of some of the new stuff we'll be launching this autumn

Thanks for reading!

Thought Bubble 2012 and Music Anthology

We can now confirm Inspired Comics will have a table at Thought Bubble 2012. We're really excited because we had such a good time there last year. We'll be somewhere in the Saviles Hall again. :)

We're currently working on a comics anthology with a music theme and are hopping to release it in the autumn. I'm going to try to start blogging comics development and hopefully get some some music choices from the group to accompany the work.

I haven't collected anything to post yet, but I went to see Blur with Sarah last week at Wolverhampton Civic Hall. We both drew sketches while we were there and Sarah has touched up some of them after the event. You can see more of Sarah's sketches here. It's interesting seeing how different our location drawings are.

I didn't draw as much as Sarah did, I was too busy singing badly along to my favourite songs ^^; . You can see the sketches I did of the warm up band here.

Blur - End of a Century

Thanks for reading - hopefully I'll have more comic based blog posts over the next couple of months

Post Thought Bubble 2011

We had a great time at Thought Bubble this year. Thank you very much to anyone who bought a copy of Science Fiction Octuple Feature or anything else from our table. I forgot to take any photos so I've doodled up a diagram. People in the drawing are Sammy, Sarah, Lily and Shaz

Book covers that are not our anthologies are The Wastelands by Gem Sheldrake, Best Day Ever by Sammy Borras and What's The Time Mrs. Wolf? created by Sarah and Lily with a cover by Jennifer Denty

If you couldn't make it to the event our anthologies are available though our Big Cartel site.

We're starting to make plans for next year already, so hopefully this blog is going to stay active with personal projects and new development work.

Thanks again!

Cleaner Sky

This is our final preview page from the new anthology Science Fiction Octuple Feature by Gemma Sheldrake. The rest of the short story features a great alien/monster character design that I really like. Gem has been hard at work recently updating her The Wastelands webcomic. Unfortunately she wont be at Thought Bubble in person this year but we will have a limited amount of copies of a printed version of The Wastelands on our table.

You will be able to find us this weekend on table 75 in the Saviles Hall at Thought Bubble this year. That's in the far right aisle as you enter the hall. Click here for the floor plan.

The table will have all our anthologies that are currently in stock and a great variety of comics, post cards, stickers, badges, handmade sketch books by individual members of the group.

See you there!

Alex's Escape

This page is the first from Alex's Escape written by Jacob Boniface and illustrated by Jack Davies. The artwork is really bold, there are some interesting panel layouts all though the short story. Jack has posted some great step by step process posts over on his own blog spot. You can find them through the links below.

I also have some more events news and information.

We won't have an official selling table at Comica Comiket this year. Shazia might be around with the Pittville Press students (who I'm sure will have some great stuff anyway and will be worth finding). And Lily should be around doing some stuff with the London Print Studios Comics Collective - I'm not sure exactly what but it will probably be worth trying to find out what they're up to :)

Sorry that's kind of vague but we will definitely going up to Thought Bubble near the end of the month with a table and everything. :)

Thanks for reading

Understanding

Today's preview is from Understanding by Shaz Jubeen. You can find more of her comics and illustration on her blog over here and tumblr over there. It's been a while since Shaz was able to contribute to the anthologies so I was really excited to see her comic this year.

I've posted some copies of Science Fiction Octuple Feature to Orbital Comics in London. The comics have probably not arrived yet but hopefully you'll see them in the shop soon.

It's getting close to Thought Bubble so I'll be uploading more frequent previews and let you know about any new extras people might be bringing along to our table.

Thanks again

Comics have arrived!

Hey everyone, exciting news! Our printed anthology came in the post this week. They look great! I'm really looking forward to taking them to comic shops and events. I'll let you know when they will be available and where from. We'll definitely be taking them to Thought Bubble this November :) (if I can get a good photo I will post it)

I drew some fanart of characters from the comics in the anthology this weekend and it was a lot of fun drawing everyones characters - hopefully I got the colouring roughly correct. Right to left characters are owned by Sarah Fogg, Lily-rose Beardshaw, Laura McNulty (writer), Sammy Borras, Luke Bayliss (writer), Harry Griffin-Hayes, Cat Reda, Shaz Jubeen, Jacob Boniface (writer), Jack Davies and Gemma Sheldrake.

And a massive thank you to all the contributors :)

Thanks again to everyone who has been supporting this blog
There will be more previews and news over the next couple of weeks

Jacked In

This weeks preview is from Jacked In, a comic written by Laura McNulty and illustrated by Sammy Borras (that's me). We work together a lot and I always have fun making things with friends. Laura has been busy studying Japanese at university but I'm sure we'll find the time to make comics together again sometime in the future. Recently I have been creating lot of short story comics for the web and other group projects. I'm very excited about the launch of Ink+Paper this autumn, a thick comic/magazine organised by David O'Connell.

I mentioned last week that Lily was working on some projects but I wasn't sure how much I could tell you, but since last week they have been announced so I will fill you in. The LondonPrintStudio are running a comics course and Lily is one of 6 interns to get a place. I'm looking forward to following Lily's work and their group projects on their Comics Collective blog.

Lily is also working with Sarah on a zine for women. I'm hoping that it will be available to buy from our table at Thought Bubble, but I will make sure to let you know when it is officially released and how you can get hold of a copy.

I'll be back with more previews and news next week and hopefully some photos of our comic in print! it gets more and more exciting every week :)

Thanks again!

A Thousand Empty Heavens & Cover

We've finalised the anthology line up and everything is nearly all ready to be printed. I'm getting very excited now. Over the next 2 months I'm going to post a 1 page preview from each comic and let you know what exciting things we're all up to ready for Thought Bubble in November.

I'm featuring the comics in order they appear in the book. This is a little preview of A Thousand Empty Heavens by Sarah Fogg. There is always excellent stuff posted on her blog regularly so make sure you're following her.

After many different anthology title ideas we chose 'Science Fiction Octuple Feature' which was suggested by Lily-rose Beardshaw. The cover that won the voting we did was my own design, but I've decided to add little previews from the 8 comics on the back because I think they're all great. I really wanted to use all the submissions we had for covers, but I'm pleased the others will all be printed in full colour within the anthology.

Because the image was re-sized for the internet I've added a larger version of the previews. Contributors are Sarah Fogg, Lily-rose Beardshaw, Laura McNulty (writer), Sammy Borras, Cat Reda, Luke Bayliss (writer), Harry Griffin-Hayes, Shaz Jubeen, Jacob Boniface (writer), Jack Davies and Gemma Sheldrake. So weekly I'll be blogging a preview page.

Thanks for reading

Thought Bubble 2011 and other announcements

illustration by Jack Davies, from the Distorted Anthology

I'm very pleased to announce that Inspired Comics will have a table at Thought Bubble 2011. The event will take place on the 19th-20th November in Leeds. You'll be able to find us in the Saviles Hall. We should have a bunch of new stuff to take to the event by November. We're starting to prepare a Sci-fi anthology and I'm hoping I can show you design work over the next couple of months. I'm very excited by what I have seen so far.

Jack Davies has returned to the group, I'm looking forward to seeing more comics from him in the next year. You can read the Bostin Heroes comics Jack illustrated online here and see a bunch of great stuff on his blog

Thanks
